Dwarf Clawed Frogs
(Hymenochirus boettgeri)
These frogs spend their whole life under water. We have two of
them. They are actually pretty funny to watch: They shoot to the
surface to breathe and dive back to the ground in notime. Sometimes,
they like to float with all for legs spread out. Mine also like to
hide in small underwater caves and peek out once in a while.
Don't confuse these little guys with African Clawed Frogs (Xenopus
laevis) which grow much bigger and are known to eat almost anything that fits
into their mouths.
