Why Newts?

Well, why not newts? Newts provide a good mix of several hobbies: aquariums, terrariums, and reptiles. Newts are usually very active and curious creatures. They require very little care and are relitviely cheap to keep and maintain. They live for many years and even develop personalities of their own.

Above all there is something special about a creature that can live on land and in the water and still fit on your desk at work.

Friends of Newts

Herper's Bizarre

An unusually interesting amusing and informative page!

SPIFF's Newt and Salamander Page

This page is great! Tons of great stuff about newts and lots of links.

Herp Link

This is the place to go for herp stuff. Newts, frogs, lizards and snakes all have links from here.

Swantje and Sven's Aqua-Terrarium Page

Marc Staniszewski's Amphibian Wonderland

Marc has written some excellent books and has the most comprehesive collection of information on species. He also claims to have the largest tailless amphibian collection.

Lizards! Lizards! Lizards!

Jim Websters All Things Lizard-like Site.

Newts in Space

I kid you not. Newts were featured on STS-49 in a experiment from the University of Virginia. Or read the mission report from NASA that chronicles the life and death struggles of these Japanese Firebelly (Red Belly?) Newts.

DOROTA's FROGLAND

My newts live with their cousins, some Firebelly Toads so I would like to feature Dorota's wonderful FROGLAND page here. I love the photos, fun software and .WAV files of the toads themselves.

Morbius' Slimy Pets (AKA Newt-o-Rama)

Need I say more?
